Kally Laurence is an East London–based contemporary artist working from Blackhorse Lane Studios in Walthamstow as part of the Barbican Arts Group Trust artist community.
Her practice combines large-scale painting with traditional printmaking techniques including screen printing and block printing. Laurence studied printmaking at the Royal College of Art, graduating with an MA in Printmaking.
Laurence describes her work as rooted in “the everyday” — ordinary objects, social interactions, patterns, colour and lived experiences. Her paintings often merge expressive painterly surfaces with layered print elements, creating energetic, densely worked compositions. She cites influences from fashion, textiles, travel and observation of daily life. India, in particular, has been an ongoing visual inspiration in her work.
