Timothy Hyman RA is best know for his narrative paintings that set London as their backdrop. He explores his personal relationship, both real and mythological, with the city where he lives and works. His paintings often depict visions of himself and his wife the author Judith Ravenscroft.
Timothy Hyman has exhibited widely in the UK, Italy and India. In 2007 he was awarded the National Portrait Gallery Travel Award. He is a figurative painter, lecturer, curator and art historian. He is a highly respected authority on Sienese painting and the work of Pierre Bonnard and has published acclaimed monographs on both subjects. He studied at Slade School of Fine Art (1963-1967).
Timothy Hyman joined BAGT in 1972. He currently has a studio at BAGT Hertford Road Studios.
